Thanks to movies, cartoons, and popular culture, we think of hypnosis as something performed by a shadowy figure sitting in a dark room and swinging a pocket watch in front of your eyes. Perhaps with the words “you are feeling sleeeepppy” ringing all around.
Is this all that hypnosis is? Definitely not! And especially not at Moving Minds.
Unlike many other hypnotherapists, I use a particular type of hypnosis called Conversational Hypnosis. In this blog, I am going to explain what conversational hypnosis is and how it can help you create the results you want so you can make a positive change in your life.
What is Conversational Hypnosis?
Conversational hypnosis is a type of hypnotherapy that targets the unconscious brain and gives it the material it needs to achieve incredible things. Your true potential lies under the surface, and that is where your greatness springs from.
Conversational hypnosis uses suggestive language and unfolds as a therapeutic conversation that reveals what’s holding you back. As we progress, I’ll give you the tools you need to take control of your life and move forward.
Using conversational hypnosis, I’ll help you hone in on your ability to tap into your personal greatness. This will give you the drive to achieve your goal, whether that is to quit smoking forever, lose weight and keep it off, overcome anxiety or depression, resolve insomnia, manage pain, improve at sports, improve your memory, boost your confidence or succeed at work.
You can achieve anything; you already have the capacity to do it. My job is to help you unlock that potential.
Conversational Hypnosis Targets Your Intrinsic Motivations
Extrinsic motivation is the type of motivation that is external. Doing something so you can get more money, a new car, a new job – that’s extrinsic.
When you do something because you genuinely enjoy it or it makes you feel better, that’s intrinsic. It comes from within you.
Conversational hypnosis works by developing your own intrinsic motivations to achieve lasting results. The way this happens is by looking at how you feel and how certain experiences, activities, or lifestyles make you feel.
By working on your intrinsic motivations rather than extrinsic ones, I can help you get at the root of your struggles so you can make the right changes in your life.
The Moving Minds Approach
In every session, I will take the time to identify what is holding you back and what you are struggling with.
Every struggle comes with pain. For example, you may want to quit smoking, but you haven’t been able to stop even after so many tries. This can make you feel angry, sad, and frustrated. Or you might want to lose weight and feel disappointed with yourself that you continue to snack even when you know you aren’t hungry.
I will help you work through these emotions so you can understand what you are capable of doing. I will help you take control of your life and tap into your ability to change and improve it.
Everything that we experience in our lives comes from our thoughts, our impulses, and our behaviours. We might do something (such as having a cigarette) on impulse, which then leads to us feeling bad. I will help you examine these behaviours and work through them carefully, guiding you so you can harness your amazing capacity for growth and change.
A Brighter Future Ahead
When you work with me at Moving Minds, you will not need to be frightened of the future, what it holds, or whether you have the strength to move forward.
After your hypnotherapy treatment with me, you will feel excited about the future and be full of optimism and hope about what you will achieve.
