Get the most from your hypnosis session

Find someone who you feel comfortable with

This is the first and most important thing you can do – and actually, this is important no matter what type of therapeutic service you are seeking. Whether it’s a psychologist, doctor, dentist or anyone else – if they are treating you it is important that you feel comfortable to get the biggest benefit. Of course, when it comes to hypnosis it is incredibly important purely because you are going to be working through potentially important topics.

Your mental health and behaviour is critical to your successful passage through life, and while it’s not to say that you cannot be successful while managing mental health concerns or behavioural factors, it is helpful if you feel positive about yourself. And the first step on that journey comes from choosing a hypnotist with whom you feel comfortable.

Believe in the treatment

It is important to commence your session with your hypnotherapist believing that this is going to work for you. Practically anyone can be hypnotised – no matter how open to suggestion or cynical you are. So long as you are willing to be hypnotised there is a very high chance that hypnosis will be effective. You just need to want it to work.

Voice your thoughts

During your session there may be things that pop into your mind. Don’t ignore them, they have appeared to you for a reason. Make sure you tell your therapist and allow these thoughts to be worked through in your session. Remember, hypnotherapy works with your subconscious mind. This part of your thinking does things differently to your conscious mind, so it is important to not judge or over-analyse anything that comes up.

Just go with it and allow your hypnotherapist to assist you in reaching your results. To this end, also ensure that you enter your session with an open mind, and with full appreciation of the imagination and curiosity you are tapping into.

Be comfortable

Wear something that you feel comfortable and relaxed in. Avoid foods that are likely to make you overly sleepy, and also avoid caffeinated drinks and products as you are required to relax in your session. You want to be able to focus, but not fall asleep!

Eat something light before your hypnosis session and ensure you are as calm as you can be. Also, make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to arrive at your session so you’re not rushed or frazzled going into it.

Do your homework

It is important to listen to the recordings given to you after each session. These are designed to help reinforce behaviours and suggestions that have been given to you so make sure you do the work required to get results.

Be specific with your hypnotist

If you are grappling with something specific, make sure you say as much. You have come into hypnosis for a purpose, so make sure you tell your therapist exactly what you need assistance with. If there is something that is stopping you from relaxing, voice this. If there is something that will make you feel more comfortable, say so.

We hope this has been helpful – and remember, if you have any questions, please call us on 0422 741 041 or send us a message online. We would love to meet you and be able to help you grow and move forward in your life using the power of hypnosis.
